three tea bags to make one cuppa tea?

In my house, 4 o’clock
is tea time.
Today while the water boils
I choose Sainsburys “Assam fairtrade fine tea”
we bought in London last year, but
the tea bag slips out my hand
falls on the floor
and I step on it.
As we can’t buy them here,
each “strong and refreshing” bag is *treasured*
I put it in the teapot.
Where my shoe’s been recently, I can’t say, and
I know the floor wasn’t cleaned today…
I get a second one
pour boiling water in a cup
which cracks,
splits neatly down the middle,
and hot water lands on my foot

I blame it on jet lag

  1. Betty says:

Oooh, this rings home to me! I like tea pathetically weak (and coffee, pathologically strong) — so I always just use 1 teabag per pot … i would have been your ideal guest in this tempest!

I'd be delighted if you left me a comment
