Museum Musings: unusual spelling

as I always do when handed a credit card, I looked at her name: ‘Lawrin’

“That’s an unusual spelling of your name: I’ve always seen it spelled ‘L-a-u-r-e-n’. I like it,”  I said,

“Thanks,” she said. “I was named after the horse, Lawrin, which won the 1938 Kentucky Derby.”

……………..

(I wonder whether her childhood was any different than mine, because she was named after a race horse, and not a grandmother, aunt or famous person like Mother Theresa…)
